The agencywide blanket purchase agreement gives the Department of Health and Human Services cost-effective access to the Salesforce customer relationship management tools.

With the announcement of an agencywide blanket purchase agreement, operating staff and divisions throughout the Department of Health and Human Services can now access Salesforce customer relationship management tools.

According to Salesforce, there was a high demand for CRM solutions across HHS, which lacked a strategic sourcing vehicle for agencywide purchasing of Salesforce subscriptions. This $100 million BPA gives HHS divisions cost-efficient access to Salesforce, enabling them to take full advantage of the services in the Salesforce portfolio.

Using Salesforce, HHS divisions can improve the way agency employees manage citizen interactions, such as getting real-time updates and information from the Food and Drug Administration or guidance from the Administration for Children and Families. In addition, the company said, HHS divisions can quickly and easily build new cloud applications, making data accessible to employees anywhere and on any device.

The new deals offers an agency-specific complement to the governmentwide BPA the General Services Administration awarded in December 2015.  That five-year, $503 million agreement allows six businesses to bring Salesforce-related professional services from development to implementation via one procurement vehicle.

And in May 2014, Salesforce attained authority to operate from the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program for both its software as a service and platform as a service models, consistent with FedRAMP moderate baseline controls. That ATO was granted by HHS for the Salesforce Government Cloud.
