Connecting state and local government leaders
Part of a highway crossing over the Verdigris River near Tulsa was removed as part of a rehabilitation project.
Using explosives, workers last week demolished part of a bridge on U.S. Route 412 about 20 miles east of downtown Tulsa.
The bridge is on the eastbound side of the highway and crosses the Verdigris River near the town of Inola. A $15 million project to rehabilitate the structure began last year.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation posted video of the explosion online:
U.S. Route 412 runs east-west across Oklahoma, stretching about 500 miles between the state’s borders with Arkansas and New Mexico.
